Europäische Kulturstädte in Deutschland und Ungarn

Das europäische Projekt der „Kulturhauptstädte“ geht auf eine Initiative der ehemaligen griechischen Kulturministerin Melina Mercouri zurück. Seit 1985 wird jährlich eine Stadt in Europa mit dem Titel „Kulturhauptstadt Europas“ ausgezeichnet. Im Jahr 2010 wird je eine Stadt aus Deutschland und aus Ungarn Kulturhauptstadt sein.

Für Deutschland bewerben sich die Städte Braunschweig, Bremen, Essen, Görlitz, Halle, Karlsruhe, Kassel, Lübeck, Potsdam und Regensburg um den begehrten Titel; in Ungarn sind Budapest, Debrecen, Eger, Györ und Pécs angetreten.

Über die Konzepte aller Bewerberstädte können Sie sich im Lesesalon im Foyer der Botschaft der Republik Ungarn, Unter den Linden 76, informieren. Er ist vom 25. November bis 2. Dezember 2004, montags bis donnerstags jeweils von 13.00 bis 16.00 Uhr für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich.

Außerdem diskutieren Vertreter der Städte mit Experten aus Polen, aus der Tschechischen und der Slowakischen Republik, aus den Niederlanden, aus Großbritannien und Österreich und aus Ungarn und Deutschland in fünf internationalen Kolloquien die „Zukunft der Kulturhauptstädte Europas“.

Nach Potsdam und Regensburg sind Halle (14.–16. Januar 2005), Budapest (4.– 6. März 2005) und Kassel (4.– 6. Mai 2005) die Gastgeber für die nächsten Kolloquien. Ziel der Arbeitstreffen ist es, geeignete Kriterien zur Auswahl künftiger Kulturhauptstädte zu entwickeln und diese als Empfehlung an das Europäische Parlament und die Europäische Kommission weiterzuleiten.

European Cities of Culture in Germany and Hungary

The European Project “Capitals of Culture” goes back to an initiative by Melina Mercouri. It is being realized since 1985. Since then, the political landscape of Europe and the European Union has changed dramatically. It has also changed culturally.

More Changes will have taken place when a “European Capital of Culture” resides in Germany and Hungary in 2010. In Germany the cities of Brunswick, Bremen, Essen, Goerlitz, Halle, Karlsruhe, Kassel, Luebeck, Potsdam and Regensburg are competing for the much wanted title; in Hungary the cities of Budapest, Debrecen, Eger, Györ and Pecs are doing the same.

They say “Welcome” and this means a “Welcome in Europe”, too, since Europe takes place where its citizens are, and it is what they make of it. Information on the concepts of the 15 applicant cities is available in the Reading Room of the Hungarian embassy, Unter den Linden 76. The Reading Room is located in the embassy’s foyer. It is open to the public from the 25th November to 2nd December 2004 from Monday to Thursday, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Furthermore, delegates of the Cities discuss the “Future of European Capitals of Culture” at fi ve international colloquia with experts from Poland, the Czech Republic, the republic of Slovakia, Great Britain, Austria, Hungary and Germany. After Potsdam and Regensburg, Halle (14th to 16th January 2005), Budapest (4th to 6th March 2005) and Kassel (4th to 6th May) will be host to the next Colloquia. Aim of the meetings is to develop adequate criteria for the selection of future Capitals of Culture and to submit these to the European Parliament and the European Commission.

Európai Kultúrvárosok Németországban és Magyarországon

A „kulturális fovárosok“ európai projekt Melina Mercouri egykori görög kultuszminiszter asszony kezdeményezésére jött létre. 1985 óta Európában évente tüntetnek ki egy-egy várost az „Európa kulturális fovárosa“ címmel. 2010-ben Németország és Magyarország adja Európa egy-egy kulturális fovárosát.

Németország részérol Bréma, Essen, Görlitz, Halle, Karlsruhe, Kassel, Lübeck, Potsdam és Regensburg pályázza meg e becses címet; Magyaroszágról Budapest, Debrecen, Eger, Gyor és Pécs jelentkezett.

A pályázó városok projektjeivel a berlini Magyar Nagykövetség elocsarnokában berendezett Olvasószalonban (Unter den Linden 76) lehet megismerkedni. Az érdeklodo közönség számára az Olvasószalon 2004. november 25. és december 2. között, hétfotol csütörtökig, 13-tól 16 óráig látogatható.

Lengyelországból, a Cseh Köztársaságból, a Szlovák Köztársaságból, Hollandiából, Nagybritanniából, Ausztriából, Magyarországról és Németországból származó szakértok öt nemzetközi kollokvium keretében vitatják meg az „Európa kulturális fovárosainak jövoje“ c. projektet. Potsdam és Regensburg után 2005. január 14-tol 16-ig Halle, 2005. március 4. és 6. között Budapest és 2004. május 4-tol 6-ig Kassel látja vendégül a következo kollokviumokat. A munkatalálkozók célja, hogy kritériumokat dolgozzanak ki a jövendo európai fovárosok kiválasztásához és ezeket, mint ajánlásokat továbbítsák az Európai Parlament és az Európai Bizottság felé.
